2017 marked the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's theses at the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg. These 95 theses are the basis for what was to become the Reformation. Martin Luther did not only work in Wittenberg, his footprints can also be discovered in the Elbe-Elster area and in Torgau. The town of Jüterbog has also a special significance: Here the Dominican monk Johann Tetzel practiced the sale of indulgences. This practice was the basis and starting point for Luther's theses and thus the beginning of the Reformation.
